The Durand Neighbourhood Association since its early beginnings have played a very active role in engaging in City Wide Issues. Past members were involved in the creation and implementation for “Hamilton’s Central Area Plan”, the Downtown Secondary Plan, and the battle against the permissive zoning bylaws of the 70’s which created property speculation, demolition of historic buildings and removal of existing viable housing. Issues today include the LRT, the Farmers’ Market, the Casino, the Gore and adequate and appropriate parking in the downtown.
