Next weekend (May 4-6) is the annual Jane’s Walk festival, which is free, citizen-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs. Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories about their neighbourhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbours. And we have a few taking place in our neighbourhood!
First, join Janice Brown, Past president of the Durand Neighbourhood Association on Sunday, May 6th, at 10:30, on the northeast corner of Bold and MacNab South Streets. We will begin with the history of the origins and development of the Durand Neighbourhood and then begin to explore Durand’s Nob Hill. This will take us through the MacNab Charles Heritage Conservation District, the first one to be designated in 1989 in the City of Hamilton.
And then, if you are up for some more action, join Kevin Love for a bike ride tour through the alleys of the Durand neighbourhood and the Kirkendall neighbourhood. The ride will start at 1:00pm from the SoBi station in Durand Park.
Hope to see you all out for these great events!
