While break ins continue to be a problem, recent violent crime trends in Hamilton continue on a 10-year decline, as outlined in a Hamilton Police report entitled An Overview of Violence Prone Areas in Hamilton. While this is good news, the Dowtown is still the most violence prone area in the City and Hamilton has an above average violent crime rate.
