The Durand Neighbourhood Association  submitted its position (FINAL COMMENTS re 98 James Street South) to the Planning and Economic Department regarding the site plan application and the variances requested by the developer for “The Connolly”, the former James Street Baptist Church.  This is the first step in the public process.  The DNA looks forward to your comments regarding our submission.

Upcoming Public Meetings:

Councillor Farr and City Staff will be hosting a public meeting for Duranders to discuss the conversion of Bold and Duke from one way to 2 way. Date and Location TBA.

Heritage as you  know is a priority for the Association. Please see our Vision Statement and Mission Statement with Priorities and Goals for the next 3 to 5 years.  To help meet our Heritage  goals,  we  are developing strategies to move forward to  ensure that we protect and conserve what is left of our Heritage in Durand.  As part of our “Built Heritage” series, we have invited Catherine Nasmith Architect who specializes in heritage rehabilitation, planning, advocacy and research.  She is also the publisher of an e-journal Built Heritage News. Her presentation will focus on Heritage Districts. Date and Location TBA.

Children’s Rides in Gore Park

The City of Hamilton in co-operation with CHML/Y108 and the Downtown Hamilton BIA presents the Official Light Up Ceremony on Friday, December 5th in Gore Park beginning at 5 pm. A live concert, free refreshments, Christmas miniature train and merry-go-round rides and the official light up of the Christmas Tree of Hope.
