Ambitious City Seminar by Chief Toronto City Planner and Hamiltonian, Jennifer Keesmat – Lessons Learned

Keesmaat shared the timeless principles of great cities, noted the classic mistakes Hamilton has made, and sketched a path to recovery. The talk included many lessons for the Durand. Read a synopsis of the talk in Raise the Hammer.

Stolen Items in Durand Neighbourhood

A male was arrested last night with numerous items that appeared to be stolen from vehicles. They may have happened in the Durand area and the below listed items were recovered and have not yet been reported stolen.  We are emailing Durander’s to see if they’re a victim and have not reported it.  Sergeant Burbidge would love to be able to return this property to whoever the rightful owner is.

We cannot locate the owners for the sunglasses, watch and backpack and 3 GPS’s.

Black Gucci sunglasses with diamonds surrounding frame- aviator style
Brown Steve Madden sunglasses with alligator skin pattern
Ralph Lauren glasses with blue case
Toronto Maple Leafs watch

Please contact Sgt. Burbidge for more information:

Sustainable Transportation Progress in Hamilton

With regular news articles outlining the costs associated with single-occupancy vehicle commuting and the major influences it has over us, it is great to see sustainable transportation celebrated. One exciting development is PW Committee’s support for the new bikeshare system to be launched this Spring (pending Council approval on Dec. 11, 2013). Metrolinx will be providing the $1.6 million capital expenditure while Social Bicycles, who won the proposal and stirred up some great community discussion, will maintain all operating and liability costs meaning that there will be no direct costs for Hamilton tax payers.
