A Toronto Perspective on Urban Casinos
Check out this recent Globe and Mail article entitled: “Why Toronto’s Casino Proposals are so Last Century”. This insightful article is a reminder that many of Ontario’s large cities are debating similar issues as Hamilton is with it’s potential casino plans.

The agenda for the February 6th General Issues Committee of Council is available now, and includes an address from Graham Crawford regarding plans for a casino in Hamilton.

Ward 2 Participatory Budget Update
Our PB representative Nicholas Kevlahan reports that the committee is working diligently to plan the Participatory Budget Process for Ward 2.  The committee has 14 members, including 6 neighbourhood association representatives, 6 nominees appointed by Councillor Farr, Councillor Farr, and facilitator Mike Cameron.  Norman Kearney, (Reeves Financial Services Inc) is spearheading the process.  This process is expected to be  completed by the end of July with approximately $1 Million allocated by the end of the year.  Once the Capital Budget  projects have been identified and short listed, YOU will have the opportunity to vote for your preferred choices.  This will happen in November 2013 with results announced December 2013.  We will continue to keep you updated.
